Dyslexia Resources Available for Library Patrons

Dyslexia is a neurologically-based condition affecting word-level reading accuracy, fluency, and spelling. It affects 5% to 20% of the population. Dyslexia is not related to intelligence, and people with dyslexia can be very successful.

The International Dyslexia Association (IDA) of Ontario supports individuals with dyslexia by providing resources such as assessments, decodable books, webinars, online videos, and educational conferences to assist parents and children and educate people about this learning disability. For more information, visit the Association’s website at www.idaontario.com

In 2022, the Carlow/Mayo Public Library was fortunate enough to receive funding from IDA Ontario to purchase dyslexia resources and decodable books for patrons of all ages. To find out what is available, visit the Library or call 613-332-2544.
