History of the Library

The public library in our community has long been rooted in a partnership with the public school system through the Hastings Prince Edward District School Board. Over the last 35 years, the library has been located in different rooms of the school. In 2006, it came to the attention of a former Principal of Hermon Public School, Mr. Bill English, that funding was available for municipalities to deliver library services.

A partnership was developed with the Hermon School Library and the municipality to create the Carlow/Mayo Public Library. The ribbon cutting ceremony April 6, 2006 completed the delivery of library services to the municipality of Carlow/Mayo.
